Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Health Advocate to join our team. The Health Advocate will help their patient navigate through medical processes according to patient needs and priorities. They will work to bridge the communication gap between the patient and their healthcare provider team, offering support and assistance, as the patient makes informed decisions about their medical treatments.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, nursing, or a related field
- Prior experience as a patient health advocate or in a related role
- Experience working in a healthcare setting
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to navigate complex healthcare services
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven understanding of patient privacy
- Compassionate and empathetic demeanor
- Familiarity with healthcare policies and procedures
Job Responsibilities
- Attending patient appointments via telehealth
- Taking notes during appointments
- Asking questions on behalf of the patient during appointments
- Guiding appointment dialogue in accordance with patient priorities
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of patient health history and current health status
- Completing patient paperwork as needed (patient permission required)
- Managing patient medical records
- Establishing new patient-provider relationships
- Scheduling healthcare appointments, imaging, labs, procedures, etc.
- Assisting patient with obtaining pharmaceutical products
- Communicating with patient insurance companies to inquire medical coverage
- Educating patients on their health conditions and treatments within the Advocate’s scope of practice
- Protecting patient privacy according to HIPPA guidelines
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
