Director of Capital Improvement Job Overview

The City of El Paso is recruiting for the position of Director of Capital Improvement.
We are seeking an experienced, strategic and collaborative candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Engineering or related field, and ten (10) years of professional, managerial, or administrative experience, dealing with the preparation and fiscal oversight of operating budgets or capital improvement and acquisition projects, including five (5) years of registered professional engineering management experience. A valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment. Texas Professional Engineer License or equivalent transferable from another state, which must be converted to a Texas Registration within one (1) year following appointment.
The successful candidate will direct, plan, administer, and oversee third party administrators contracted to initiate and manage to completion City construction projects and all administrative functions of the Capital Improvement department. In addition, candidate would serve as the main liaison to City Council and local entities to ensure project completion/closeout.
