About the Company
Our client, a private equity-backed retail company, is seeking an accomplished Director of FP&A to lead the financial planning and analysis function and drive strategic initiatives. This is a critical leadership role within a high-growth environment, requiring a finance leader who can shape financial strategies, deliver actionable insights, and influence decision-making at the highest levels.
Position Overview
The Director of FP&A will oversee all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis. Working closely with the executive team and private equity stakeholders, this leader will provide critical insights to drive profitability, scalability, and operational efficiency. Candidates must be currently located in the Eastern Time Zone and bring proven experience operating in private equity-backed or high-growth environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with growth objectives and long-term goals.
- Performance Analysis: Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, delivering insights to executives and PE stakeholders.
- Forecasting & Budgeting: Direct annual budgets and rolling forecasts, ensuring alignment with company priorities.
- Scenario Planning: Perform advanced scenario/sensitivity analyses to guide decision-making under varying market conditions.
- Process Optimization: Improve FP&A processes, reporting, and systems for accuracy and efficiency.
- Private Equity Reporting: Deliver board-ready reporting, dashboards, and presentations on key financial metrics.
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing FP&A team that drives accountability and excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with accounting, operations, merchandising, and supply chain teams to align financial planning with business strategy.
- M&A Support: Provide financial insights and due diligence for acquisitions, including integration support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive FP&A or financial leadership experience, with at least 3 years at the senior/director level.
- Demonstrated success in private equity-backed or high-growth retail or consumer-facing environments.
- Advanced expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis.
- Proficiency with FP&A systems (Adaptive Insights, Hyperion, Anaplan, or similar) and advanced Excel.
- Strong executive presence, with the ability to present financial insights clearly to C-suite and PE sponsors.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams in fast-paced environments.
- Must be currently located in the Eastern Time Zone.
