This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, including ICD-10 and ICD-9, as well as experience in surgical medical office settings.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of coded data to support processes and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve discrepancies in medical records.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices in the field of medical coding.
- Assist in the management of medical collections by ensuring timely submission of claims and addressing any coding-related inquiries.
- Utilize various coding software systems effectively to streamline the coding process and enhance productivity.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with changes in medical terminology, coding practices, and healthcare regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical coding, specifically with ICD-10, DRG, and other relevant coding systems.
