About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Email & SMS Senior Marketing Specialist to join our retention marketing team. This role is all about execution and making things happen. You’ll manage and grow our email and SMS channels, making sure every campaign performs well and supports our bigger marketing goals. You’ll be building, sending, and optimizing campaigns that really connect with our customers. You’ll manage everything from promotional emails and product launches to automated flows across email and SMS. This role requires a deep understanding of audience segmentation and using data to guide decisions.
This is a key role for a fast-growing DTC brand where customer communication and experience are central to our growth.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign Execution & Management
- Build, QA, and launch promotional email and SMS campaigns, ensuring flawless execution and brand alignment.
- Manage triggered lifecycle campaigns (welcome, browse/cart abandonment, post-purchase, winback, loyalty, etc.).
- Collaborate with creative, copywriting, and product teams to ensure campaigns are on brand, on time, and optimized for performance.
- Partner with creative and content teams to request and gather all necessary assets: copy, design, and gain approvals for campaigns.
- Plan and execute promotions: assist in building and managing the DTC promotional calendar.
- Manage email and SMS frequency across campaigns, triggers, promos, and transactional messages to reduce churn
- Research leading brand strategies to uncover best practices and innovative tactics for acquiring, nurturing, and retaining customers
- Develop processes: create standardized workflows, QA procedures, and documentation to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Optimization & Analysis
- Monitor deliverability, render testing, list health, and compliance (CAN-SPAM, TCPA, GDPR/CCPA).
- Drive performance with testing: Design and execute A/B tests across subject lines, message content, CTAs, customer cohorts, segments, send time, and new features. Manage the testing calendar, track and record results, and provide insights to refine messaging, segmentation, cadence, creative, and overall campaign performance.
- Analyze and report: deliver actionable insights on campaign performance to inform strategy and continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Tools
- Partner with the marketing and brand teams to ensure campaigns align with business goals.
- Work with customer service to anticipate potential impacts on volume and customer sentiment.
- Manage integrations: help oversee connections between CRM platforms and other tools in our tech stack.
- Leverage ESP and SMS platforms (e.g., Attentive) to execute campaigns efficiently.
- Support lead generation: assist in developing and implementing acquisition strategies for both email and SMS.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in email/SMS marketing, preferably in a fast-paced DTC or eCommerce environment.
- Strong understanding of lifecycle marketing, segmentation, and customer journey mapping.
- Hands-on experience with ESPs (Klaviyo, Iterable, Braze, etc.) and SMS platforms (Attentive, Postscript, etc.), and ecommerce platforms like Shopify.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable optimizations.
- Knowledge of compliance standards for email and SMS marketing.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Team player and collaborative mindset and eagerness to test, learn, and optimize.
Nice to Have
- Experience with health, wellness, or CPG brands.
- Familiarity with Shopify or other eCommerce platforms.
- Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for email template editing.
