Job Details of Insurance Verification Specialist
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and benefits to ensure necessary services are covered by an individual’s medical plan and clearly document said information into the Practice Management System.
Essential Functions
- Resolve Clearinghouse alerts and communicate required updates to the Patient Access Representatives as needed
- Correct and update the Practice Management system with eligibility details
- Obtain insurances eligibility through payer websites as needed
- Contact external entities, as required, to obtain updated demographics &/or insurance coverage
- Customer Service and administrative responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must have the ability to research and resolve alerts provided by Clearinghouse
- Basic computer knowledge and typing skills
- Multi-tasking skills required
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to focus and work quickly to resolve alerts
