The Director of Physician Recruitment provides strategic leadership and oversight for the recruitment of physicians and advanced practice providers across UF Health and reports to UF Health Northeast Florida Regional President and UF Health Chief Clinical Officer. This role is essential in supporting UF Health’s significant regional growth initiatives, including the opening of new facilities and service expansions, which will require meeting targeted recruitment goals. The Director develops and implements a centralized recruitment strategy that aligns with clinical service line needs, organizational growth priorities, and workforce planning objectives.
The position oversees the provider recruitment team, drives consistency and efficiency in recruitment practices, ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, and partners with executives, service line leaders, and medical staff leadership to achieve projected hiring goals and centralizing physicians and advanced practice provider recruitment structures. A critical focus of this role is positioning UF Health as an employer of choice for providers by delivering a high-quality candidate experience, building national and regional outreach pipelines, and creating recruitment outcomes that directly support patient access, clinical excellence, and speed to revenue.
Responsibilities
Design and implement a centralized physician and advanced practice provider recruitment strategy that supports system wide growth, aligns with service line priorities, and ensures consistency and efficiency across all recruitment efforts.
Partner with executives, service line leaders, and medical staff to forecast workforce needs, prioritize critical roles, and align recruitment efforts with organizational expansion.
Lead, mentor, and develop the recruitment team while managing budgets, resources, and processes to reduce reliance on external search firms and improve time-to-fill.
Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle—from sourcing, advertising/marketing, and job postings through interviews, offers, and onboarding—ensuring compliance, efficiency, and a high-quality candidate experience that positions the organization as an employer of choice.
Drive provider outreach through national and regional campaigns, partnerships with residency and fellowship programs, and engagement with professional associations to build sustainable candidate pipelines.
Coordinate with onboarding and credentialing teams to deliver a high-touch, white-glove experience offering personalized support, accelerates readiness for practice, supports speed to revenue, and improves early engagement and retention.
Monitor projected recruitment KPIs, including Primary Care and Specialty, and market data, analyze trends, and prepare reports and recommendations for executive leadership to inform strategy and decision-making.
Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards in provider recruitment and serve as the primary liaison between recruitment, executive leadership, and external partners.
Build and maintain strong relationships with medical schools, residency programs, and professional associations.
Represent UF Health at recruitment events, conferences, and community forums.
Perform all other duties as assigned by management within job scope.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree Required.
5 to 7 years of experience in physician and advanced provider recruitment, or healthcare recruitment leadership experience. Strong knowledge of physician and advanced practice provider compensation models, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
